I-FEST is an annual international festival of Engineering, Science, and Technology that gathers young researchers and developers from all over the world in the Tunisian city of Monastir. You can present your project in different sections of the contest: Physics, Ecology, Engineering, Biology, Entrepreneurship, and Business.
If you want to develop an app to help stray animals, construct a robot gardener, or demonstrate your math skills, this is a great opportunity for you!

Explorers from all over the world aged 14-21 can participate in the contest. At I-FEST, they present their projects in an arbitrary manner. It can be a design, a research paper, an experiment, or even a business plan for a new product. The most important criteria are that the work corresponds to one of the topics of the contest and is creative, comprehensive, and innovative. These criteria are evaluated by the jury.

There are seven thematic sections and an unlimited number of ideas and directions in each of them!

• Physics – in this section, the black holes and dark matter are studied, and innovative X-ray machines and costumes for the astronauts are designed.
• Ecology – for those who can invent eco-friendly glitter or the new methods of water purification.
• Social Sciences – here, it is explored why the TikTok feed is so addictive and why we start studying for the exams in the nick of time.
• Computer Sciences and Math – for those who code, create neural networks, and develop apps for smartphones.
• Engineering – here, harvesting robots and drones that deliver applications to the universities all over Europe are invented.
• Biology – for the explorers of new viruses and vaccine inventors.
• Entrepreneurship and Business – section for the future conquerors of the Silicon Valley.

It is a separate contest at the festival. Participants develop robots with VEX, LEGO, and other materials and use them to take part in the following contests:
SUMO CHALLENGE: your robot’s task is to push the opposing robot off the ring;
LINE FOLLOWER CHALLENGE: your invention wins if it is the first to pass the given track;
ALL-TERRAIN: robots of arbitrary design demonstrate their ability to drive around almost any terrain;
AI_CHALLENGE: robots of arbitrary design that use artificial intelligence;
VEX CHALLENGE: robots made of VEX materials; and
LEGO CHALLENGE: robots made of LEGO materials.

The inventor whose robot gets high scores in the biggest number of contests will win the Olympiad.
Selection for the Olympiad takes place simultaneously with the selection for I-FEST and according to the same rules. The only difference is the participants’ age: you can only apply if you are aged 16-25.

To become a finalist of the national selection, you have to receive a recommendation from the expert commission as a special prize at the stage III of the All-Ukrainian contest-presentation of scientific research projects among JAS students or in the exhibition-contest "The Future of Ukraine". Then, you will automatically end up in the list of finalists. Yes, without filling in any forms.

Together with your research supervisor, you will prepare a research paper and a poster that will briefly explain the essence of your project. You will present your work in front of the jury with that poster.

You will stay in Monastir, the city located on the Mediterranean coast of Tunisia. Our International Relations department will help you organize the trip and the state represented by the National Center “JASU” will cover the costs of the flight and accommodation.

There, you will introduce your work to the jury members with the help of the poster containing research results or the presentation deck. You have to prepare them beforehand. The jury will evaluate the materials and have five minutes to ask you questions about the project. So, you should train your public speaking skills!

If the contest takes place online, you will present your work via a video conference.

The jury takes into account:

• clarity;
• scientific basis;
• creativity;
• depth; and
• engineering goals.
  Communication skills that the research authors demonstrate during the presentation also matter. The final scores depend on your presentation in front of the jury, the presentation of your poster, and the audience vote.

The best projects get medals and certificates as well as special awards. The organizers have prepared special prizes for three top projects: presents, trophies, and cash rewards.
