The All-Ukrainian Student Philosophy Olympiad is an annual competition among school students of 8-11 forms. It includes a competition itself and preparation for it, and also provides a great opportunity to take part in the International Philosophy Olympiad.

If you are interested in getting into the essence of things, studying metaphysics and ethics, discussing John Locke's views of the state or Erich Fromm's views of love, as well as describing your thoughts on justice, the good or values, then this Olympiad is for you!

An opportunity to express and challenge yourself, to share your thoughts on philosophical topics and to get a recommendation for participation in the International Olympiad in Philosophy.

This Olympiad is not just about competition and challenges. It is also about the effective study of philosophy. During the preparation, you will listen to a lot of lectures, attend workshops and webinars, and learn how to write essays. You will also get to know how to work with philosophical sources and improve your writing.

The Olympiad has three sections:

• Forms 8-9, essay language is Ukrainian;
• Forms 10-11, essay language is English;
• Forms 10-11, essay language is Ukrainian;

Participants in all sections are to write a 4-10 pages philosophical essay based on one of the quotes suggested by the organisers. It has to be a written piece with a clearly expressed author's opinion, justified position on the phenomenon or subject and logical conclusions. You will be informed about the topic of the Olympiad in advance – in September.

Participants of English sections should possess a B2 level in English, no less. For the other two sections, the working language is Ukrainian.
To register for the Olympiad you have to fill in the registration form. You will find it in the JAS social media – Facebook, Instagram. You can register up to November 1, so don't miss the deadline.

The All-Ukrainian Student Philosophy Olympiad consists of two stages.

The first one is preparatory, it usually takes place in October–November online.

The organisers sends to you and other participants all the training materials i.e. sources, critical literature, links to useful videos and lecture recordings via email. During this period, participants actively prepare for the actual Olympiad i.e. they attend lectures, webinars and workshops, work with the sources, get advice on writing essays from the organisers of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad and write an essay draft.

The second stage is final.
At the end of November, after preparation, participants write a competition essay. They have four hours to write an essay. The jury will evaluate them and announce the winners in each section.

The winners of the Ukrainian language sections receive an invitation to the JAS Philosophy Summer School and the winners of the English section will also receive recommendations for participation in the International Olympiad of Philosophy.
