This is a competition of research projects for students in grades 7-10. Nevertheless, if you are younger but have a cool project, feel free to apply.

To participate in the competition, you have to prepare notes outlining the main ideas for future research, which will describe how your project will change the world, and to make a presentation where pictures, diagrams, and memes will convey your ideas to the jury members and other participants from all over Ukraine. The project itself should belong to one of the categories, namely history, astronomy, ecology, or technology, and focus on the topics announced in advance by the organising committee.

Do you dream of becoming a science leader like Michio Kaku? Are you sure that your inventions will help humanity colonise other planets? Or, maybe, you know how to solve the mysteries of Trypillia? "JAS - Junior Researcher" is a great starting point for your science breakthroughs!

What categories are there?

"Junior Historian" is for you if you want to tell about sites in your city connected with historical events or to conduct an investigation following the footsteps of a hetman or a writer.
“Junior Astronomer” is for you if you have a plan to help solve the space debris problem or unravel the mysteries of the universe.
"Junior Engineer" is for you if you know how to convert the whole house to solar power and create practical devices using materials at hand.
“Junior Ecologist” is for you if you are researching how to solve the problem of recycling in your region or if you know how to preserve the environment and save Red Book animals from extinction.

You have an opportunity to feel like a real researcher and share your own invention regardless of where you live. The competition is held online.

You will share science ideas with the whole country. You will also conduct research in your favourite field and take the first steps in writing a research paper to start a research career and to introduce innovative ideas. You will learn to present your project as if you were speaking at TED Talks, and you will receive feedback on your research from an expert jury.

The All-Ukrainian interactive competition "JAS - Junior Researcher" is held annually. We invite students in grades 7-10 of general secondary and out-of-school educational institutions. In each category, different common topics are suggested for further research.

To participate, you need to fill in the application form and send it together with the presentation of the project in Microsoft PowerPoint format and the synopsis of your research to the e-mail [email protected]

Then, the participants’ projects are published on the official website of the competition, so an open rating evaluation begins. Research supervisors of the participants whose works are presented at the competition take part in it. There are two requirements: one must evaluate objectively, explaining each score, and one cannot comment on the students of one’s own school. At the same time, the works are evaluated by the jury. The average score is calculated for each project. If it is equal to half of the maximum number of points (or exceeds it), the work is allowed for online defence.
The defence of the project can also be heard by your supervisor, who can understand how objective the commission is in its assessment. The defence of the projects by categories will be broadcast on the Facebook page "JAS - Junior".

Projects are evaluated according to the following criteria:

• compliance with the theme of the competition;
• consistency, logic, and scientific presentation;
• originality, independent execution, and personal contribution of the author;
• literacy and quality of design;
• originality and correctness of explanation; and
• the author’s ability to lead a discussion.

Winners will receive JAS diplomas of I, II, and III degrees and will be able to take part in the All-Ukrainian autumn school "STEM MAS.UA". The victory also opens opportunities for participation in international competitions.
