During 2024-2025, JASU was a member of the European consortium responsible for implementing the project. This large-scale international initiative aimed to create a strategic roadmap for the development of STEAM education across Europe. For Ukraine, the project held particular significance, as it was designed to support the advancement of STEAM education amid wartime conditions and ongoing societal challenges.
Within the framework of the project, the JASU:
- presented Ukrainian STEAM education practices at the European level, highlighting them as an example of educational resilience and adaptability during wartime;
- organized conferences, webinars, and roundtable discussions, engaging Ukrainian educators, researchers, and experts in dialogue about the future of STEAM education;
- integrated Ukrainian practices into the broader European STEAM landscape and contributed to policy recommendations for education systems;
- strengthened international cooperation, thereby establishing a foundation for future joint projects, knowledge exchange, and the scaling of innovative educational solutions in Ukraine.
The project’s outcomes are expected to contribute to the modernization of educational programs, the professional growth of teachers, and increased public awareness of STEAM. As a result, students will gain access to new methodologies that combine scientific experimentation with artistic practices, while educators will be able to apply contemporary tools to foster critical thinking, creativity, and interdisciplinary competencies. More detailed information about the project results is available on the Road-STEAMer website.
Additionally, as part of JASU’s participation in the project, the video “STEAM Practices in Science Museums in Ukraine” was produced.
Ukrainian partners who joined the project’s activities included Mykhailo Drahomanov Ukrainian State University (UNESCO Chair on Science Education), the Institute of Gifted Child of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, the Institute of Pedagogy of the National Academy of Educational Sciences of Ukraine, as well as educational institutions and research organizations from various regions of Ukraine.
The National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” expresses its sincere gratitude to the European Network of Science Centres and Museums (Ecsite) and to all consortium members for their productive collaboration within the project and for their continued support of Ukrainian educators in advancing STEAM education.
